How to Apply Governor G

Before Applying Governor G

  • Governor G should not be applied unless irrigation is installed and water is plentiful.
  • Apply only when your lawn is healthy and well fed, and has been cut recently.
  • Make sure you know the exact square footage of your lawn. Guessing could result in under- or over-application. For more help, click here.
  • Identify whether you have cool season or warm season grass. This will determine your application rates, which vary significantly between the two.
  • Whenever possible, weigh out the amount of product required.
  • Avoid any corrective chemical applications such as weed killers both before and after application. Any damage from these will be slow to grow out.

Applying Governor G

  • Applying in early morning when the grass is wet from dew can help with transferring the active ingredient to the plant. This is not required, just a best practice.
  • Avoid cutting for at least 48 hours to avoid particle pick-up or movement.
  • DO NOT WATER IN!
  • Apply every 4 weeks for continued control through the growing season. If heavy growth is seen sooner, apply earlier.
  • Stop all applications 60 days prior to cold weather or frost that will cause grass to go dormant.

Spreader Settings

We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.

No, Governor G is intended for lawn applications only.

Governor G should be applied to grass that has been cut recently. Governor G should slow the top growth of your lawn where you shouldn't have to mow as often.

Use restrictions: Do not mow 24 hours after applying to avoid removing product from the lawn. Do not mow 4 hours before applying to avoid potential turfgrass injury. Do not scalp the lawn and do not remove more than about 1/3 of the leaf height.

Wait at least 24-48 hours after application before watering Governor G in. Once watered-in and the lawn has then completely dried, pets are safe to enter back out onto the lawn.
