Why the Pros Love It

Dispersibility of Barricade® vs competitor

DG Technology

Barricade is made with our patented DG Technology. Once it hits water, each granule breaks down into thousands of tiny particles that move down into the soil fast—right where they’re needed to stop weeds before they start.

Small Particle Size

Barricade’s ultra-fine granules mean better coverage across your lawn. More particles per square inch = more effective weed control with every pass.

When to Apply Barricade

Spring Applications

To keep summer annual weeds away, whether you have northern or southern turf, apply Barricade in early spring. Make sure to do this before the soil temperature hits 55 degrees Fahrenheit at a depth of four inches. This timing will stop weed seeds from germinating.

Fall Applications

You can also use Barricade in the fall to prevent winter annual weeds like poa annua. The ideal time to apply pre-emergent is before soil temperatures drop below 70°F consistently. This depends on your location but is typically between mid-September and early October.

Barricade and Seeding

Just like Barricade stops weeds from sprouting, it can also prevent grass seed from germinating.

If you've already seeded, hold off on applying Barricade for 60 days or until after the second mowing, whichever takes longer.

The waiting period before you can seed or overseed after using Barricade depends on your climate and how much Barricade you applied. Check out the table here for the recommended intervals.

Pro Tips for Best Results

Sweep or blow product off the driveways/sidewalks back into the lawn.

Spreader Settings

We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.

Works Great

"I put down 2 applications over a 2 week period, and I can honestly say, the lawn looks a whole lot better than it used to. I don’t use lawn services. I watch a lot of videos and stay out of big box stores. Box stores have added a lot of weeds this past summer. I use Anderson products for pre emergents and Celsius for posts. Glad I found them. I’ll post another pic when spring arrives."

Love this stuff

"New track home landscaping went in with zero soil prep. Between getting the soil corrected and using this product to fight off all the weeds has many dog walkers passing by asking what my secret is. I tell them everything Andersons and regular applications. I will not using any other pre-emergent than this one for our Piedmont region Bermuda lawn."

Q&A

I live in southeast Texas, st. Augustine lawn. Is it safe to apply Barricade pre-emergent in the fall before temps drop below 70' and then spring when temps are 55' and over? Trying to make sure I understand the information correctly.
Your information is correct, if you have any specific questions or need assistance please reach out to info@andersonslawn.com.
If I apply Barricade in the Fall will it prevent current weeds from returning in the spring?
Barricade is a pre-emergent herbicide, which means it only prevents new weed seeds from sprouting. It does not eliminate or control weeds that are already present or have already germinated.
What is the shelf life of barricade.
When stored properly Barricade has a shelf life of 3-5 years.
How long after applying emergent before I can apply grass seed
This will depend on the rates you have applied. You must wait a minimum of 4 months before applying seed.
If you applied to early in spring, when can u reapply.
Barricade is best applied when soil temperatures are 55 degrees. If you applied too early, follow-up with a product like Crabgrass Preventer 6-8 weeks later.
