Professional-Grade Soil Amendment

DG Technology

HumiChar features Dispersible Granule (DG) Technology, which allows particles to disperse when watered. The DG Technology helps the humic acid, and especially the biochar, move past the thatch layer of your lawn or the mulch in your garden bed and into the soil without any raking, digging, or tilling. Other products with biochar have chunks of organic material that are dusty and messy. Unlike HumiChar, these products have to be worked into the soil to reach the root zone and be effective.

When to Apply HumiChar

HumiChar can be applied on its own or used in conjunction with other granular applications.

HumiChar has a cumulative response in turf - reapply every 3-4 weeks for best results.

Turf

Apply 1-4 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. anytime during the growing season.

Gardens & Flower Beds

Apply 1-2 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. anytime during the growing season.

Trees & Shrubs

Apply 2-8 oz. as a band around the base of each tree or shrub. Larger trees and shrubs should use the higher rate.

Potting Soils

Mix in 2-10 lbs. per cubic yard of potting mix.

We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.

Game changer for compacted clay soil

"We moved from a home with total sand to a home with compacted clay. Humichar is helping us get back a useable earth. The clay is so hard and compacted that it is difficult to grow anything. For the last several years

"For the last several years I have used Andersons HumiChar as part of my fall lawn renovation project, along with core aeration and overseeding. Overall, I’m very happy with the results. After aerating the yard, I applied HumiChar before seeding. The product spread easily and blended well into the aeration holes. I was interested in the combination of biochar and humic substances to help improve soil health and support seed establishment, especially since some areas of my lawn have struggled in past years. Germination was strong and consistent, and I noticed the new grass seemed to establish deeper roots faster than previous overseeding efforts. The lawn maintained moisture well during the early growth stages, which likely helped the seedlings get through some warmer days without stress. A few weeks after seeding, the turf looked thicker, greener, and more uniform than in previous years. While aeration and quality seed certainly played a major role, I believe HumiChar helped improve soil conditions and created a better environment for root development. The product was easy to apply, produced very little dust, and fit seamlessly into my lawn care program. Based on the results I saw this season, I plan to use Andersons HumiChar again during future aeration and overseeding projects."

I have a coastal house, I have spent the last year getting my ph and my K right. It is all sand with large amounts of construction sand mixed in. My hope is to give my sod a good start. How much humic can I add: We recommend applying Humic DG at the high rate at least once a month.
