Professional Iron Source

Other lawn iron supplements use ferric oxide (Fe3+) as their iron source. The availability of Fe3+ is highly dependent on the soil pH, and is mostly available in acidic soils (pH of less than 7). For each one unit in pH rise, Fe3+ availability reduces 1,000 fold! The iron source in Lean & Green is ferrous sulfate (Fe2+), a highly plant available form of iron that is not impacted by soil pH ranges. This is especially beneficial considering most iron deficiencies occur in high pH soils.

When to Apply Lean & Green

Lean & Green can be applied in conjunction with another fertilizer at the time of application and with fertilizer programs.
Apply when turf is actively growing.
Do not apply during periods of extended drought unless irrigation is available and used.
It's not uncommon to see small patches of black/brown spots in turf after application. This is cosmetic, not damaging to the turf and resolves quickly. Applying to a dry lawn and watering-in deeply can help avoid this.
Be sure to sweep misplaced product from driveways and sidewalks as it will stain.
Has a cumulative response in turf - For best results, reapply every 4 weeks.

Clear any lawn debris and make it easier for particles to reach the soil.

Clean Up

Sweep or blow product off the driveways/sidewalks back into the lawn.

Water Deep

Your lawn will need at least 0.2 inches of water.

Don't Bag It

Leave lawn clippings for at least one mowing to avoid particle pick-up.

"Applied it for a second month and the "stuff" is as good as it gets! I will apply The Andersons 4-2-0 Fertilizer with Hydra Charge in a few days to supplement. I'm experiencing some clover growth, and I've read the cause is a nitrogen-deficient lawn. So, applying the 4-2-0 fertilizer hopefully will do the trick."

Helpful for my Bermuda

"I have challenging Bermuda grass. Due to slope and more shade I have to keep my deck higher when I mow. So that dullness can show more at 4 inches and not the ideal 2 inches if I had a perfect scenario. The first time I put the product onto the grass unfortunately I got a ton of rain and I think that that impacted the way that the product worked because it really got hammered pretty quickly after the first application so yesterday I put down a second application and I can see today after a day and a half that it’s looking a little bit greener. I need to give it some more time. I will definitely do a third bag because I do feel the effect is cumulative and my grass is taller, so I think that this will be a benefit and I do recommend the product even though I can’t see the full benefit yet"

"I applied it as per instructions on 7/08, we have 95+fahrenheit almost everyday and the lawn looks green and "healthier" (even that I do not have the best lawn). We have some moss in lawn and a lot of mossy spots turned dark after a few days yet not! the grass. I had applied last year HumicDG plus Humichar and in 2024 a bag of BioChar. 3 quick questions I purchased 2 40 lb bags when it was released Is this quick release ? How long does it last unopened ? Also what's the ideal temperature to put down the 10-10-10 to jump start ? Also will be putting down barricade I am in northwestern nj Thank you: Lean & Green is quick release. Unopened fertilizer, kept in a cool and dry place, can be stored for up to 2 years.Fertilizer can be put down in the spring when your lawn comes out of dormancy and starts growing again.
