Spreader Settings

We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.

Frequently Asked Questions

After seeding: Avoid applying a weed and feed at least 30 days after the seeds germinate, or after the seedings' first mow, which ever is longer.

Before seeding: Avoid seeding until 30 days after a weed and feed application.

Ensure to always read your weed and feed's label for application timing around seeding.

Pre-emergent will inhibit new grass growth if it is applied too close to seeding. If you plan on seeding in the spring, forgo your spring pre-emergent application. If you plan on seeding in the fall, forgo your fall pre-emergent application. Ensure to always read your pre-emergent's label for application timing around seeding.

Yes, a fertilizer and a soil amendment is recommended to be applied while seeding. A starter fertilizer, like New Lawn Starter 20-27-5, or a balanced fertilizer, like Core™ 12-8-12, are great choices. A soil amendment such as BioChar DG™ or HumiChar™ will help encourage seed germination. These products can be either worked into the soil while spreading the seed, or applied on top of the soil after raking the seed in. Water-in after applying these products.

The polymer coating that is used for this product has a variety of ingredients. Many of these ingredients are being used within the food industry for different purposes. When the seed is utilized for it intended purpose the ingredients are environmentally safe, biodegradable and nontoxic for humans or pets.

"Following the directions to a T, I had no new growth! Very disappointing."

A lot of work but we got grass!

"Delivery was ok. It was a couple days later than I wanted but I think it was the shipper's fault. We had unexpected rain on day 10 and it washed out a lot of the seeds. However, what didn't wash away did germinate and at a surprisingly high germination rate AND in areas where it's not full sun (probably 50% sun). Images attached are of day 20. Here was my process in case you need it:- Started with lawn aeration. Used spikes and not core aerator. Then sprayed about 0. 25 lbs of nitrogen of 3-18-18. - Next day, top dressed with top soil mixture. Sprayed another 0. 25 lbs of 3-18-18. Started watering each zone for 1min every hour- After day 4 of seeding, noticed ground was a little too wet and backed watering to 1min every 4 hours- Day 10 was the rain that washed probably half of what I put down- Day 16, checked back and we had germination in areas that didn't wash awayYou could probably have an even higher germination rate with some tweaks but so far the seeds are growing. Will update with full grown grass pics."

Rio Bermuda is best suited for warm season locations.
How do I use Rio to overseed my Bermuda soded lawn? Thank you! Do you recommend the sea for over seating or maybe a different variety? I am in northern Alabama.
