The Smarter Slow-Release Fertilizer

Carbon Coat image describing fertilizer core and coating

CarbonCoat Technology

CarbonCoat is our patented manufacturing process that bonds humic acid directly to slow-release nitrogen granules. This innovative coating allows both nutrients to release in sync, unlike traditional blends where humic is released upon the initial application and the nitrogen continues to release for weeks after. The result of a this synchronized nutrient delivery system is an even feed for up to 10 weeks with no nutrient spikes or drop-offs for more consistent color and growth.

When to Apply CarbonCoat

CarbonCoat can be applied anytime during the growing season but is especially beneficial to apply in the summer ahead of high temperatures. It's gradual nutrient release feeds for up to 10 weeks. CarbonCoat can be reapplied every 3-4 weeks when using the low rate and every 5-6 weeks when using the high rate.

The particle size of CarbonCoat is more similar to that of a standard fertilizer. When CarbonCoat is applied to dense turf maintained at an inch or lower, it is especially important to water it in thoroughly so it doesn't get caught in the turf canopy.

Pro Tips for Best Results

Check The Forecast

Avoid applying before heavy rainfall so particles don't get washed away.

Mow First

Clear any lawn debris and make it easier for particles to reach the soil.

Clean Up

Sweep or blow product off the driveways/sidewalks back into the lawn.

Water Deep

Your lawn will need at least 0.2 inches of water.

Spreader Settings

We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.

Frequently Asked Questions

CarbonCoat technology is the result of our patented manufacturing process where fertilizer is coated in humic and polymer. CarbonCoat technology offers granules that deliver nitrogen and humic acid simultaneously. This synchronized nutrient delivery system is unlike traditionally blended slow-release fertilizers where humic is released upon the initial application and the nitrogen continues to release for weeks after. The result is more uniform growth and higher plant-available nitrogen compared to blended fertilizers or separate applications of fertilizer and humic.

Yes, CarbonCoat should be watered in thoroughly with at least 0.2 inches. When CarbonCoat is applied to dense turf maintained at an inch or lower, it is especially important to water it in thoroughly as the particle size of CarbonCoat is closer to a standard fertilizer granule size.

CarbonCoat is great to apply ahead of summer as it is slow-release and will supply an extended feeding for up to 10 weeks.

Humic acid is beneficial to all soil types. It improves the soil structure by increasing beneficial microbial activity, increasing water penetration and helps enhance nutrient uptake.

A great Type of Fertilizer from Andersons

"I used a bag of this product in my lawn this summer and the results were fantastic. I used to buy something similar from a big box store every year, but they never made my lawn to look so neat as this one from Andersons did. It is more expensive, but the results speak for themselves. DJ"

Hello I just want to make sure I understand this product correctly. I live in middle Tennessee and have a tall fescue lawn. Temperatures are in the mid 80s now and are rising. Is it still ok to put down a light application of this product? I will do it only before anticipated rain. Thanks.: Yes, it is okay to apply CarbonCoat in these conditions.
Is it better to wait until the fall for cool season lawns in the northeast ?: CarbonCoat can be used any time extended feeding is wanted. For example, apply right before summer to get extended feeding throughout the summer months, or in the fall to get long lasting feeding going into the winter.
