Apply with the Program

Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food 26-0-6 is application 1 of The Andersons Lawn Program. Click here to learn more about how to apply with the program.

Apply Alone

Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food 26-0-6 can be applied as the pre-emergent and fertilizer application in your existing lawn care regimen. This product should be applied in the spring prior to weed germination, which when soil temperatures are reaching 55° F. Dimension, the active ingredient, will protect your lawn from grass and broadleaf weeds such as crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtail and henbit. If additional control is necessary, this product may also be applied in the fall.

Spring Applications

To keep summer annual weeds away, whether you have northern or southern turf, apply Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 in early spring. Make sure to do this before the soil temperature hits 55 degrees Fahrenheit at a depth of four inches. This timing will stop weed seeds from germinating.

Fall Applications

You can also use Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 in the fall to prevent winter annual weeds like poa annua. The ideal time to apply pre-emergent is before soil temperatures drop below 70°F consistently. This depends on your location but is typically between mid-September and early October.

The waiting period before you can seed or overseed after using Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 depends on your climate and how much you applied. Check out the table here for the recommended intervals.
