Ways to Apply

The Andersons Lawn Program Applications

Apply with the Program

Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food 26-0-6 is application 1 of The Andersons Lawn Program. Click here to learn more about how to apply with the program.

Apply Alone

Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food 26-0-6 can be applied as the pre-emergent and fertilizer application in your existing lawn care regimen. This product should be applied prior to weed germination, which is in the spring when soil temperatures are reaching 55° F, and in the fall when soil temperatures drop below 70°F consistently. Dimension, the active ingredient, will protect your lawn from grass and broadleaf weeds such as crabgrass, poa annua, goosegrass, foxtail and henbit.

Spring Applications

To keep summer annual weeds away, whether you have northern or southern turf, apply Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 in early spring. Make sure to do this before the soil temperature hits 55 degrees Fahrenheit at a depth of four inches. This timing will stop weed seeds from germinating.

Fall Applications

You can also use Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 in the fall to prevent winter annual weeds like poa annua. The ideal time to apply pre-emergent is before soil temperatures drop below 70°F consistently. This depends on your location but is typically between mid-September and early October.

Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 and Seeding

Just like Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 stops weeds from sprouting, it can also prevent grass seed from germinating.

If you've already seeded, hold off on applying this pre-emergent product for 60 days or until after the second mowing, whichever takes longer.

The waiting period before you can seed or overseed after using Crabgrass Preventer 26-0-6 depends on your climate and how much you applied. Check out the table here for the recommended intervals.

I need help… Applied Prodiamine pre emergent in April as I have done the last 3 -4 years. But always seem to have a post emergent issue in a section of about 200 square feet. Happens yearly. Could it be “winter crab grass”.? What is a sure fire way of curing this problem. Have not had much luck with Quinclorac and spot treating. Used Tenacity for a couple of years. Not too much a fan of the large white patches though. Could you give me a spot treatment chemical that will work on crab grass. Also am I missing a treatment phase in late fall. I live in Cleveland area. I keep a log of my applications. Do you have a treatment Thomas Liller Tjliller@gmail.com Love the quality of your products and your company. Your particle technology products are great.
You should not be seeing crabgrass this early in the season, however, it could be a different type of grassy annual. Can you please sent photos to our customer service team at info@andersonslawn.com. The team will help identify the weed and develop an action plan going forward. Thanks!
