What Makes It Pro Grade?

Built For Professional Results

Quintessential delivers the kind of performance professionals rely on. This means quicker visible results, stronger overall control, and dependable performance even during tough conditions like drought or right after rain. It’s designed to handle the toughest crabgrass stages and keep lawns looking clean and healthy from start to finish.

A rainfast comparison measures the time needed between a spray application and a rain event for the product to remain effective. In a rainfast comparison with a competitive quinclorac product, the results indicate efficacy at 2 hours and beyond with Quintessential®, while it takes 12 hours for a competitive product to achieve the same level of effectiveness.

When to Apply

Quintessential® should be applied while your lawn is actively growing and weeds are visible. For best results, treat early before crabgrass matures, but it’s effective even on tougher stages. Avoid spraying during extreme heat or drought stress.

PRO TIPS

  • It is best to apply when crabgrass is young or just starting to appear.
  • Avoid hot, dry, or stressed turf conditions.
  • Apply to dry grass and allow it to dry before watering or rain.
  • If you plan to seed, apply Quintessential at least 7 days before and then not again until 28 days after emergence.
  • Do not mow 2 days before or 2 days after.
  • Wait 24 hours after application to apply granular fertilizer.
  • To ensure this product is safe for your grass type, refer to the FAQ's further down on this page.
  • PPE is recommended while applying( rubber/plastic boots, gloves, long pants, long sleeves, nitrile gloves, and goggles/glasses)

Frequently Asked Questions

It kills crabgrass and other common lawn weeds fast by helping the plant absorb the weed killer better.

Apply it when weeds are actively growing — especially when you first see crabgrass starting to pop up in your lawn.

It is best to avoid applying before expected rainfall or irrigation. However, the special formula helps it stick and absorb quickly, so you still may see some level of control if the Quintessential was applied at least 2 hours prior to rainfall.

Do not mow 2 days before or after applying this product to maximize weed control and minimize potential turf injury. Clippings from the first 3 mowings after application must be left on the treated area.

Works well on (highly resistant grasses): common Bermudagrass, annual Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Buffalograss, tall Fescue, annual Ryegrass, perennial Ryegrass, Zoysiagrass.

Use with caution (moderately resistant grasses): creeping Bentgrass, hybrid Bermudagrass, rough Bluegrass (Poa trivialis), Chewing’s Fescue, hard Fescue, red Fescue, seashore Paspalum. Apply this product to fine fescue only when it is part of a blend.

Do not use on (susceptible grasses): Bahiagrass, colonial Bentgrass, seaside Bentgrass, Centipedegrass, Dichondra, St. Augustinegrass.

Do not use on golf course greens and collars.

It is recommended to apply this product with a pump/tank sprayer.

Once the spray has completely dried, pets can go back out onto the lawn.

Quintessential is most effective on crabgrass at all growth stages, while Q4 Plus will control broadleaf weeds and mature crabgrass.
