Professional-Grade Weed & Feed

Four-Way Herbicide

Surge contains 4 active ingredients that help it target tougher weeds like clover and achieve superior performance in cooler weather.

Small Particle Size

Surge features an extremely small particle size. This means you get more complete and uniform coverage, which boosts the product’s effectiveness.

When to Apply Surge

For the best results, apply Surge® in the spring or fall.
However, you can use it anytime you notice broadleaf weeds actively growing in your lawn.

Established Lawns

PREP YOUR LAWN

Mow your lawn 1-2 days before applying the product. Make sure your grass is hydrated by giving it a good watering (about half an inch) one or two days before. This is especially important if you’re in a dry spell. Your lawn must be actively growing for the weed and feed to work.

APPLY TO A WET LAWN

Spread Surge Weed and Feed in the morning when your lawn is damp with dew, or water lightly beforehand. The moisture helps the granules stick to the weeds’ leaves, which is where the product needs to be.

KEEP THE LAWN DRY AFTER APPLICATION

Keep an eye on the weather and hold off on watering for at least 24 hours after applying. Rain or running sprinklers too soon will wash away the product, reducing its effectiveness.

New Lawns

COOL-SEASON GRASS

Wait until your newly planted grass has been mowed at least three times or has developed strong roots before applying.

WARM-SEASON GRASS

Wait 3-4 weeks after laying sod, sprigs, or plugs. Use a lower application rate (half the amount recommended for established lawns).

What to Expect

You’ll start noticing weeds turning white or brown within 5-7 days of application. Complete die-off may take up to 21 days. For lawns with a lot of weeds or stubborn types, a follow-up application might be needed in 30 day intervals.

Spreader Settings

We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.

Q&A

Is this safe for buffalo grass: Surge Weed and Feed 16-0-9 is safe and effective for use on Buffalo grass (Bouteloua dactyloides) when applied according to label directions. If you have additional questions please contact us info@andersonslawn.com.
Will it okay for azosia lawn?: Hello, Yes! This is safe for zoysia lawns.
16-0-9 is good for July for weed killer: Hi there, Yes, Surge Weed & Feed 16-0-9 is a good choice for July if you're dealing with broadleaf weeds and your lawn is actively growing. The 16-0-9 provides moderate nitrogen for summer feeding and potassium to help with heat and drought stress. Apply during cooler parts of the day, preferably when temperatures are below 85°F and the lawn is not drought-stressed.
I applied Scott’s weed and feed on May 22nd (I live in Nj). I applied it accordingly and follow the directions. It is now June 23rd and I have white clover all over my lawn. I am switching to your seasonal plan, but was wondering if I should use this product instead of the summer feed around July 10th. I would appreciate your input. Thanks: If you want to treat the weeds you could use a weed and feed, but I would recommend using a fertilizer and a product like Q4 to treat it
Some application burned my grass. Will it eventually come back or is there something I can do to fix it?: If you have burned your lawn, you will want to flush the area with water by heavy watering. Stop applying any fertilizers. Apply a light soil amendment for water retention.
