Apply Alone

Weed & Feed 24-0-16 can be applied as the post-emergent application in your existing lawn care regimen.

When to Apply Weed & Feed 24-0-16

For the best results, apply Weed & Feed 24-0-16 in the spring or fall.
However, you can use it anytime you notice broadleaf weeds actively growing in your lawn.

Established Lawns

PREP YOUR LAWN

Mow your lawn 1-2 days before applying the product.

Make sure your grass is hydrated by giving it a good watering (about half an inch) one or two days before. This is especially important if you’re in a dry spell. Your lawn must be actively growing for the weed and feed to work.

APPLY TO A WET LAWN

Spread Weed & Feed 24-0-16 in the morning when your lawn is damp with dew, or water lightly beforehand. The moisture helps the granules stick to the weeds’ leaves, which is where the product needs to be.

KEEP THE LAWN DRY AFTER APPLICATION

Keep an eye on the weather and hold off on watering for at least 24 hours after applying. Rain or running sprinklers too soon will wash away the product, reducing its effectiveness.

New Lawns

COOL-SEASON GRASS

Wait until your newly planted grass has been mowed at least three times or has developed strong roots before applying.

WARM-SEASON GRASS

Wait 3-4 weeks after laying sod, sprigs, or plugs. Use a lower application rate (half the amount recommended for established lawns).

What to Expect

You’ll start noticing weeds turning white or brown within 5-7 days of application. Complete die-off may take up to 21 days. For lawns with a lot of weeds or stubborn types, a follow-up application might be needed in 30 day intervals.

We recommend using a broadcast spreader. These spreader settings are a guide. Many variables such as walking speed, terrain, particle size, density, and spreader condition can affect these settings. Be sure to calibrate your spreader before every application.

No, Weed and Feed is a post-emergent. This means that Weed and Feed will eliminate existing weeds it is labeled to control but does not prevent their presence in the future. To prevent weeds, we recommend applying Barricade.

Once the Weed & Feed has had at least 24 hours to sit on the lawn, it is okay to water it in. Once watered-in and the lawn has then completely dried, pets are safe to enter back out onto the lawn.

"The "feed" makes a noticeable difference in the lawn. The "weed" aspect does not. I noticed minimal difference in quantity of weeds in my lawn after 2 proper applications of the weed and feed, 5 weeks apart. This was also after I put the pre-emergent down in the fall and very early spring."

Didn't kill the clover like

"Didn't kill the clover like it used to. We have used Anderson weed & feed for many years. It has been on our lawn for a week. We put it down after a rainy day, no rain for 50 ours after applying. Hopefully it will continue to kill the clover. It did wilt the other weeds & green up the grass. Wondered if there was a change in the product recently."

The feed is good, the

"The feed is good, the weed portion appeared to do nothing. I even watered my yard 1st, then used an ortho broadcaster applying 60 lbs (two bags) of the weed and Feed to my Bermuda/Fescue/Zoysia yard. And the broadleafs did not evey shrivel. It was dry for 2 days after the application and then I set my sprinklers for 35 minutes per zone. Very Disappointed in the weed portion of the Weed and Feed. It has been only 9 days, but I was hoping for some results."

What’s the amount of water needed to water in? Also what’s the maximum time to wait to water in ?: You will want to apply to a damp lawn, but not water in for at least 48-72 hours.
When can I mow after applying: It's best to delay mowing for 72 hours after applying Weed & Feed
Can this be used in concurrently with barricade? So It kills post and the barricade can handle the pre emergent side?: Hi there! On the product compatibility side of things, yes, Barricade and Weed and Feed can be applied at the same time. However, Barricade is meant to be applied when soil temperatures are reaching 55 degrees before weeds germinate to prevent them from appearing. While, Weed and Feed is meant to be applied after weeds emerge to treat them. Chances are, if you already have weeds, it is too late to apply Barricade.
After putting down the weed and feed how long should i wait until I overseed my yard or lay sod in 1 area?: It is recommended to wait at least 30 days after applying Weed & Feed before seeding or laying sod.
Can your weed and feed with surge be used over a septic system leach field?: It is not recommended to use fertilizer near septic tanks.
